John Deere, an American blacksmith, and later a great inventor and industrialist, first came up with and in 1837 manually made a plow from polished steel. The genius of agricultural thought lived and worked in his forge, in the city of Grand Detour, Illinois, USA. The company, created by the great inventor in conjunction with Leonard Andrews, manufactured plows in quantities by year:

1839 - 10;

1841 - 75;

1842 - 100.
