ELECTRICAL TRANSMISSION - ENGINE - CAT C15 ENGINE is designed for POWER, RELIABILITY, and EFFICIENCY.
The Cat C15 engine provides unsurpassed traction when digging, moving, and steep grades. Torque boost effectively corresponds to shift points for maximum efficiency and short cycle times. The high-pressure, mechanically-driven, high-pressure fuel injection system (MEUI ™), with direct fuel injection, electronically controls operator requests and sensor inputs to optimize engine performance. Additional air-to-air cooling provides improved fuel economy by packing the cooler and denser air into the cylinders for more complete combustion of the fuel and lower emissions. Pistons in the oil coil increase heat transfer and prolong piston life. The crankshaft is forged and induction hardened to ensure durability.
The Cat C15 engine is equipped with an optional ventilation reduction kit (VR). The VR package includes selective engine hardware and software for reducing the content of diesel particles in the engine exhaust. Engines equipped with a VR package have a significant reduction in ventilation speed, support fuel consumption and support or improve product performance. The availability of a VR package depends on regional regulatory requirements. An additional engine with emissions equivalent to US EPA Tier 3 and EU Stage IIIA is also available.
With a VR diesel engine, you can use a Cat Diesel particulate filter. This filter complements the VR engine, further reducing the amount of particulate matter in the exhaust. Requires a 15 ppm low sulfur diesel engine and low ash CJ-4 engine oil.
