TRANSMISSION
The Cat Planetary Power Shift Transmission is an automatic 7-speed gearbox designed for harsh off-road operations, including those with high slopes. This transmission is controlled by APECS, a strategy that provides an exceptionally smooth ride and allows power to pass through the shift points for excellent performance and speed on slopes. In addition to a fast and responsive truck, APECS manages clutch pressure to ensure durability and reliability.
With Cat powertrain components operating in 7th gear, the 772G has a top speed of 79.7 km / h (49.5 miles per hour).
STANDARD ECONOMIC MODE
Standard fuel economy is turned on from the cab. This economy mode works by reducing engine power. Customers can adjust savings by reducing truck output by 0.5–15 percent.
ADAPTIVE ECONOMY MODE
In this economy mode, built-in sensors and electronics are used to search for opportunities to reduce power based on speed in steady state. Customers will set a performance threshold to keep the truck higher. The truck will adjust the power level depending on the profile of the carriage and can change the power of the truck several times at a time.
AUTO neutral idle
Auto Neutral Idle can have a measurable effect on fuel economy. It works by shifting the loader to the neutral state if the operator did not work in the forward direction with the brake or retarder on. The truck will automatically resume forward gear when the brake is released or the throttle is engaged.
Engine idle shutdown
This feature must be activated by the client. If the truck is turned on, it will warn the operator that he is going to shut down after a long idle in the “Park”. Customers can set a downtime limit. When the deadline is reached, the truck will turn off the engine.
SPEED LIMIT
Speed āālimit is a new feature for G-series trucks and is proposed as an alternative to limiting gear. It offers customers both fuel economy and component wear. Speed āālimit allows the truck to find the most economical transmission and engine speed when driving with a set limit. The speed limit will also work with automatic slowdown control (ARC).
TRANSMISSION MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES
Due to its APECS transmission strategy, the G-Series trucks carry more torque and throttle during shifts. The fuel benefit is a quick recovery during shifts and an increase in the number of revolutions.
BRAKE WORK
An important difference to Cat trucks is their outstanding braking performance. The principle of construction is durability and excellent performance in quarries, mines and earthmoving.
HYDRAULICALLY INCLUDED BRAKES
Cat trucks are equipped with a hydraulic drive, rear brakes and front brake disc caliper. Each truck offers basic service brakes, hydraulic retarding and parking brakes.
Each truck offers basic service brakes, hydraulic retarding and parking brakes.
Two hydraulic accumulators provide the pressure required for service brakes. The second battery acts as a backup. On the rear axle, oil cooled multi-disc brakes have large discs that provide fade resistance. The parking brake is applied to the rear brakes and can hold the machine with a nominal load on a slope of 15 percent. In turn, working brakes are designed to hold a truck on the slopes of 20 percent.
AUTOMATIC DELAY CONTROL (ARC)
Automatic delay control is standard for the 772G. This function controls the speed of the truck, automatically applying braking force when the engine exceeds the set speed. Operators can adjust the engine speed from 1950 to 2200 rpm. This feature is important because it does the job of controlling the speed of the truck on long high-speed tracks without constant operator intervention; it is smoother for more control and tends to provide faster cycle times than manual deceleration. As a precautionary measure, ARC is automatically activated to prevent the engine from exceeding the speed at any time during the operation of the truck.
WHEEL ENGINE BRAKES
Caterpillar offers an optional engine brake. This engine brake works with ARC to control the speed on a slope. By enabling engine braking in automatic deceleration mode, customers can reduce brake component wear and cycle times.
TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM (TCS)
If your ground conditions are wet or slippery, the 772G is equipped with a traction control system that is quickly and efficiently activated to control tire slippage.
The system is sensitive to steering to distinguish between turning and sliding, which allows the system to turn on at slow speeds and much faster in sliding.
Once the system is engaged, it responds quickly using hydraulic service brakes, rather than an auxiliary spring brake. TCS restores traction faster, instantly modulating braking and power between the two rear wheel groups, keeping your trucks in motion and productive work
By responding quickly and at slower speeds, the benefits and durability of the tires, and the cycle time, benefit.
Note: TCS is optional on this machine.
TRUCKS
Caterpillar offers body options to suit your types of materials and needs. Cat Cat bodies will work for the entire life cycle if properly configured, protected, and maintained.
PLATFORM AND DOUBLE TILT BODIES
Cases with a flat floor and double slope are lined with impact-resistant steel with a hardness of 400 Brinell 16 mm (0.62 inch).
Two types of floors are available: flat and double slope.
-
Flat Floor enclosures are ideal for delivering product to the crusher; material is discharged in a controlled manner.
-
Double sloped hulls center the load while maintaining its stability and keeping it on steeper slopes.
STEEL LINER
Caterpillar offers one 16 mm (0.62 inch) thick steel liner that can be added to flat floor and double slope enclosures to protect against impact and abrasive materials.
CAREER BODY
Caterpillar offers a special quarry for quarries made from soft limestone. This enclosure has a steel floor thickness of 25 mm (0.98 inches) and 400 BNH and does not require additional liners if it is stored in limestone.
RUBBER LINER
Customers who load extremely hard material with high impact characteristics should consider a rubber gasket system installed at the factory. This system is intended for hard rock and should not be considered for machines that can be loaded with clay, cohesive material or hot material.
10/10/20 DOWNLOAD POLICY
Cat bodies are equipped to hold heavy loads for a long time and to climb steep climbs; However, truck reloading can adversely affect performance, shorten tire life and increase maintenance costs.
Caterpillar`s 10/10/20 payload policy maximizes performance with optimum component life and availability of your truck. Your Cat dealer can explain the 10/10/20 policy. For optimal body life, Caterpillar recommends that 110% of the payloads occur no more than 10% of the time and that the average of all the loads is equal to the target. The payload should never exceed 120% of the target.
FRAMES
Cat trucks are renowned throughout the industry for robust, durable frames. Designed for off-road maneuvering and road conditions, Caterpillar uses castings in high-voltage areas and box sections to control torsional loads.
Mild steel is used because of its tensile strength and ease of welding, which is an important feature for on-site repair. The frames are built on a platform that rotates 360 degrees, which allows to obtain consistent, deep penetrating seams. Each frame is tested for quality and consistency before assembly.
SUSPENSION AND STEERING
Cat suspension and steering design offers the following benefits:
-
Excellent ride quality - empty or loaded
-
Front struts act as a pin for long life in off-road conditions.
-
Nitrogen over the oil strut design
-

Product link not available in all regions, contact your local Cat dealer.
TRUCK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Cat Truck Production Management System is an additional tool to help you manage your operations. Light indicators on the truck inform the loader operator that they must load the truck (constantly lit with green light), as well as one last pass (flashes red) and then when the truck is loaded (turns red). The truck production management system will track loads, cycle time and payload data - up to 2400 cycles - and output reports via the onboard display or VIMS. The system performs two measurements of the payload; the first after loading and the second when the truck drives off in 2nd gear. This is done for greater accuracy.
TKPH / TMPH
TKPH / TMPH means ton-kilometer per hour / ton-mile per hour. This additional feature is a built-in tool that measures the manufacturer`s tire rating and compares it in real time with the ambient temperature, payload and truck speed. If it is calculated that the tires are approaching their temperature limits, the operator will receive a warning. If tire temperature conditions become critical, your truck may be set to automatically reduce (or limit) speeds to allow cooling.
