SPECTACLE

Each powertrain component is designed and manufactured by Caterpillar to work together in the 770G system.

CAT® C15 ENGINE

The Cat C15 ACERT diesel engine has proven itself both in off-road conditions and road trucks in North America. C15 offers:

  • Useful power of 360 kW (483 hp) at 1800 rpm.

  • Full power at an altitude of 3,000 m (9,842 ft).

  • Durable engine block that uses gray iron with ribs for strength.

  • Six solid steel pistons with steel skirts that help control thermal expansion.

  • Pendulum dampers on one upper camshaft reduce noise and vibration.

  • Compacted graphite and steel liners ensure long life and tight tolerances on combustion quality.

  • Turbocharged and water-cooled turbocharged with a titanium compression wheel for long life at high speeds.

  • Mechanically driven fuel system, but electronically controlled (MEUI ™). It responds quickly to changes in load and injects extremely fine particles of fuel for excellent combustion quality and fuel efficiency.

  • Idle control at low temperatures automatically adjusts the engine speed to maintain the optimum working temperature.

TRANSMISSION

The Cat Planetary Power Shift Transmission is an automatic 7-speed gearbox designed to work in difficult off-road conditions. Electronic control strategies, called APECS, control the clutch pressure, torque and throttle during each shift. The result is a fast and responsive truck with excellent features on slopes. It also provides a smooth and comfortable ride for the operator.

STANDARD ECONOMIC MODE

The standard fuel economy mode is activated by the operator from the cab. Standard economy mode works by reducing engine power. Customers can change the output power of the truck by 0.5-15% to save fuel.

ADAPTIVE ECONOMY MODE

Adaptive economy mode uses embedded sensors and electronics to find opportunities to reduce power based on steady-state speed. Customers will set a performance threshold to keep the truck higher. The truck will adjust the power level depending on the profile of transportation and may change the capacity of the truck several times in one cycle.

AUTO neutral idle

Auto Neutral Idle can have a tangible effect on fuel economy. It works by shifting the loader to the neutral state if the operator did not work in the forward direction with the brake or retarder on. The truck will automatically resume forward gear when the brake is released or the throttle is engaged.

Engine idle shutdown

This feature must be activated by the client. If the truck is turned on, it will warn the operator that he is going to shut down after a long idle in the “Park”. Customers can set a downtime limit. When the deadline is reached, the truck will turn off the engine.

SPEED LIMIT

Speed ā€‹ā€‹limit is a new feature for G-series trucks. Speed ā€‹ā€‹limit allows the truck to move with effective engine speed (rpm) and gear selection. The speed limit works with an automatic lag and provides fuel efficiency and component life compared to the transmission limitation.

TRANSMISSION MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES

G-Series trucks provide excellent torque and throttle during shifts. These quick but smooth shifts help maintain the dynamics on slopes and help improve fuel efficiency.

BRAKE WORK

An important feature of Cat dump trucks is their reliable and powerful braking. The principle of construction is durability and excellent performance in quarries, mines and earthmoving.

HYDRAULICALLY INCLUDED BRAKES

Cat trucks are equipped with hydraulically actuated rear brakes and caliper-type front brakes. Each truck has basic service brakes, braking ability and parking brake. Rear axle brakes are oil cooled with large friction discs that provide fade resistance. The front axle has dry disc brakes. The parking brake is applied to the rear brakes and is designed to hold a fully loaded truck on slopes up to 15%. Working brakes are designed to hold a truck on slopes of 20 percent.

AUTOMATIC DELAY CONTROL (ARC)

Automatic brake control is standard on the 770G. This function controls the speed of the truck, automatically applying braking force when the engine exceeds the set speed. Operators can adjust the engine speed from 1950 to 2200 rpm. This function is important because it does the job of controlling the speed of the truck without the constant involvement of the operator; it is smoother for more control and tends to provide faster cycle times than manual deceleration. As a precautionary measure, ARC is automatically activated to prevent the engine from exceeding the speed at any time during the operation of the truck.

WHEEL ENGINE BRAKES

Caterpillar offers an optional engine brake. The engine brake works with ARC to control the speed on a slope. Including engine braking and automatic braking, customers can reduce brake component wear, as well as reduce cycle times.

TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM (TCS)

For wet or slippery soils, the 770G can be equipped with an additional traction control system. This system turns on quickly and efficiently returns the thrust to a rotating wheel. The system has steering position sensors to distinguish between turning and sliding. With this ability, a truck can operate TCS at slower speeds and much faster in skidding. TCS uses hydraulically actuated service brakes, which also contribute to its responsiveness. By responding quickly and at slower speeds, the benefits and durability of the tires, and the cycle time, benefit.

TRUCKS

Caterpillar offers body options to suit most types of materials and application needs. The bottom of the body is made of mild steel to dissipate the load and easy repair of the weld.

PLATFORM AND DOUBLE TILT BODIES

Flat floors and dual-ply bodies are faced with steel with a Brinell hardness of 400 (BNH) for demanding applications Two floor types are available: flat and double slope.

  • Flat floors are ideal for delivering the product to the crusher; material is discharged in a controlled manner.

  • Dvukhskatnye body center load, maintain its stability and keep on steeper slopes.

STEEL LINER

Caterpillar offers a 16 mm (0.62 inch) steel liner that can be added to a flat floor and two-slope bodies. This steel liner provides protection from impact and abrasive materials.

CAREER BODY

Caterpillar offers a specially designed quarry for soft limestone. This enclosure has a steel floor thickness of 25 mm (0.98 inches) and 400 BNH and does not require additional liners if it is stored in limestone.

RUBBER LINER

Customers who load extremely hard material with high impact characteristics should consider a rubber gasket system installed at the factory. This system is intended for hard rock and should not be considered for machines that can be loaded with clay, cohesive material or hot material.

10/10/20 DOWNLOAD POLICY

Caterpillar 10/10/20 load capacity guidelines will help you maximize performance with optimum component life and availability of your truck. Your Cat dealer can explain the 10/10/20 policy. For optimal body life, Caterpillar recommends that the payload is 110%, not more than 10% of the time, and the average for all loads is equal to the nominal payload. The payload should never exceed 120% of the nominal.

FRAMES

Cat trucks are renowned throughout the industry for robust, durable frames. Designed for off-road maneuvering and road conditions, Caterpillar uses castings in high-voltage areas and box sections to control torsional loads. The frames are welded to a platform that rotates 360 degrees, which allows to obtain consistent deep welds. Each frame is tested for quality and consistency before assembly.

SUSPENSION AND STEERING

Cat suspension and steering design offers the following benefits:

SIMS ™

VIMS ™ is the Cat Vital information management system. This information management system is integrated into the engine, chassis and all other electronic controllers to provide valuable information on the condition and performance of the machine. This system uses the adviser`s display for data transfer. VIMS reports contain historical data on truck performance, payload and cycle time. These reports can help you manage your fleet, site and provide production levels.

PRODUCT LINK ™

Cat Product Link ™ allows remote monitoring of equipment to improve overall fleet management. Events and diagnostic codes, as well as hours, fuel, idle time and other detailed information are transmitted to the VisionLink® secure web application. VisionLink includes powerful tools for transmitting information to our customers and their dealers, including mapping, operation and downtime, fuel levels, and more. Product link not available in all regions, contact your local Cat dealer.

TRUCK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Cat Truck Production Management System (TPMS) is an additional tool to help you manage your operations. Light indicators on the truck inform the loader operator that they must load the truck (constantly lit with green light), as well as one last pass (flashes red) and then when the truck is loaded (turns red). The TPMS will track loads, cycle times and payload data - up to 2400 cycles - and output reports via the onboard display or VIMS. The system performs two measurements of the payload; the first after loading and the second when the truck drives off in 2nd gear. This is done for greater accuracy.

TKPH / TMPH

TKPH / TMPH means ton-kilometer per hour / ton-mile per hour. This additional feature is a built-in tool that measures the manufacturer`s tire rating and compares it in real time with the ambient temperature, payload and truck speed. If it is calculated that the tires are approaching their temperature limits, the operator will receive a warning. If the temperature of the tire becomes critical, your truck can be set to automatically reduce (or limit) the speed to allow cooling.
