WHY ELECTRIC DRIVE?

Cat® Power Driven Trucks are industry standard and most popular. However, some customers may prefer the drive for specific applications and situations.

100% tracked

Designed and manufactured by Caterpillar, the 795 is the first AC drive that comes from one manufacturer and is supported by the best dealer network in the industry. The 795 transmission works flawlessly with the C-175 engine and provides unsurpassed safety, ease of maintenance and performance.

MODULAR DESIGN FOR EXCELLENT SERVICE

The modular design makes it easy to remove and install components. The motor, generator, motors, inverter, grid and final drives can be removed independently. The rear generator provides better chassis mass balancing and is connected to the engine by an insulated drive shaft, which simplifies generator alignment.

Excellent control gives superior operator confidence

The Cat AC drive system provides industry leading deceleration, braking and control. A class-leading dynamic retardation combined with constant traction control with automatic front brake blending at all speeds gives operators excellent control and confidence.

HIGH VOLTAGE - LOWER HEAT

The Cat AC drive is a high voltage system (2600 V) that operates at relatively low current. As a result, heat dissipation is reduced and the service life of components increases.

CAT AC PROPEL ELECTRIC DRIVE

The C175-16 diesel engine drives the rear alternator through a disconnector. AC power is rectified to a nominal 2600 Volt to form a DC link. The DC line supplies power to the inverter, where the IGBT converts the DC signal to 3-phase AC to drive the traction motors. Engine power drives the wheels through a double gear main drive.

CAT AC ELECTRIC DRIVE WITH RESPECT

When the wheels are slowed down, the motors become generators. Motor power is fed back through the DC channel. Power is supplied to the contactor and breaker circuits, and then discharged through the radial grid. An AC fan blows air through the grill to dissipate power and control the deceleration rate.

GENERATOR / GENERATOR

The 795F traction alternator mounted on the chassis is a three-phase, two-bearing design. The excitation system is brushless, which has longer service intervals than brush-type systems.

INVERTER

The inverter uses Mitsubishi Electric IGBT phase modules to control the traction, direction and speed of the truck. Mitsubishi Electric is a leader in IGBT technology.

TRAFFIC MOTORS

Each traction motor has a three-phase alternating current. High-voltage, low-current motor is installed on the rear axle and is able to work on carts.

RADIAL MESH

The radial grille fits well on deck, providing operators with excellent visibility on the right side. The net has the highest braking capacity in the industry.

VARIABLE COLOR COOLING

The cooling air is provided by a variable flow system that regulates the cooling flow according to the needs of the system. This provides maximum engine power for excellent performance.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

The mesh drying function quickly dries the mesh in inclement weather. The rollback prevention function prevents the machine from moving in the opposite direction of the operator’s intentions. Grid power is constantly monitored. Mixing the front brakes prevents overheating of the mesh.

CAT® C175-16 ENGINE
